Black Lives Matter

As peaceful protests sparked by the murders of Black men and women at the hands of law enforcement continue throughout the world, Arts Horizons is proud to stand with our many teaching artists of all races and ethnicities who share their creative expressions to affirm that Black Lives Matter. We know that artistic activism has changed cultures and given voice to those who have historically been voiceless.

In our work in schools, after-school programs, hospitals, senior centers and camps, Arts Horizons pledges to continue its long standing tradition of embracing art that inspires, informs, awakens and honors those who suffer because of the color of their skin, gender, sexual orientation, economic status, physical or intellectual ability or religious beliefs.

As we continue to expose even more “lifelong learners” to the arts, we promise to hold our own organization accountable for racially equitable practices and policies as we live into our vision “to transform lives through the power of the arts”.

About Arts Horizons

Arts Horizons is a premier not-for-profit arts-in-education organization that provides live professional performances and artist-in-residence programs to students and professional development for teachers throughout the entire tri-state region. Our commitment is to make music, art, dance, theatre, new media and creative writing an integral part not only of learning, but of life. Through the transformative impact of the arts, we reach young people through many dimensions, breaking down the barriers of language and culture, accelerating personal growth, and stimulating children’s full potential to prepare them for life in the twenty-first century.
